Minutes

Call to Order & reading of the Land acknowledgement- The meeting was called at 1:08 pm
Roll Call- everyone present;
Public Comment – pursuant to California Education Code 89306, the AS Senate provides this time for any member of the public to address the AS Senate on any item affecting higher education. Pursuant to California Education Code 89306(b), each speaker will be allowed no more than three (3) minutes to address the AS Senate.
Liaison Report to the Senate (Discussion)
- Academic Senate Designee- no report;
- University President’s Designee - reported: Division of Student Affairs; Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, CAPS, went around in student areas and feedback was positive, very happy of addressing the issues on campus; food is good as well(The
- Kitchens), CAPS for the death of Professor Minor, care team: 35 cases currently open, Summerbridge: 375,000 donation from Graton Casino; Last week, faith based church from Vallejo came to visit SSU; Super Sunday, where annually where CSU goes to black churches to promote higher education; President Lee is featured speaker;
Guests
- BetterYou Demo–Sean & Jestina- healthy habit companion; the app, BetterYou asks what you want to work via goals, showing your progress, giving you tips throughout the week and can categorize the goals in 11 different areas; use data to improve the product; BetterYou is helping you track and learn your behaviors, and if you have not done the goal, it will send a reminder; it can make a challenge via community at your college, with your friends or individually; fees is being paid by CSU systemwide, uses student email to verify;
Reports (Discussion)
- AS President- able to attend with the Hub; Senator Tolson and President Hernandez attend CHESS next week;
- Vice President of Finance- budget requests from each branch is due at 5 pm today, Finance Committee holding meeting to look at the requests; Executive Order;
- Senator of Diversity - reported: interview with the student newspaper, working with Tremaine on Climax Survey, please fill out because it will helps the campus with helping students more efficiently; the sections ranging from everything, needs as much as student input since it is about the student community and it is a place to voice our concerns and get the word out; it is on the Equity and Diversity website;
- Senator of Student Resources- met with IT and guest speakers; discussion with them and making a resolution; having a solid program;
- Senator of Government Affairs- reported; last couple weeks of Classroom Visits to speak around Elections and voting; Open Forum last week, small turnout, CSSA next week to meet with the executives from CSU systemwide; meeting with Mayor Rodriguez, possibility of town hall on campus, city council meeting next month, on March 14; contacting with her clerk and thinking of any issues to discuss with her, depending on and off campus issues;
- JUMP Representative- Days of Service: March 4: Sonoma Ecology Center, March 11: , March 18th: Beach Clean Up; Study BUddies, March 28, ; Special Olympics- basketball to host and guest speaker to promote the event; marketing and collaborate with other organizations so they are involved with JUMP and the community;
- Basic Needs Representative- prescreened; 15 of them signed up on the website; improving the website because the county does not call, you have to call them; Calfresh Week: 9 student signed for pre screening, Redwood FOod Bank made their delivery and Lobo’s pantry is packed; 97 students walked in, 57 throughout the 3 days: about 500 students in total for the semester;
- ASP Representative- reported: World Kindness Day past Wednesday, about 50 students participated, only ran for 45 mins but it got rained out; Open Mic Nite; 46 people in attendance; Upcoming Events; Paint and Sip, Boards and Brew, Va Va Bloom; busy week; Lobo’s MArket following week on March 7 from 11-1:30pm(vendors, student
  showcases/vendor);
- Children's School Representative- report: completed contract; high praises from curriculum; preparing quality rates next Friday; using the grant for the staff to show how much they mean to them; teacher recruitment live today;
- Student Government Representative- reported: applications for elections has officially closed; promoting elections and voting; Presidential Debate on March 8th from 2-3:30 pm in Stevenson Hall; Voting is March 13 and 14;
- Executive Director- no report;
Business
- AS-CR 023.22.23 Resolution to certify the approval of the Associated Students, Inc to enter into CCTR CFA contract with the California Department of Social Services for the purpose of providing child care and development services. (ACTION)
  - Discussion- Senator Ochoa motioned to approve the resolution to certify the approval of the approval of the Associated Students, Inc to enter into CCTR CFA contract with the California Department of Social Services for the purpose of providing child care and development services; VPF Trent seconded the motion to approve the resolution;
  - Action-The motion was passed unanimously;
Items for the Good of the Order- Make sure to be aware of attending the events for elections and voting; Umoja Queens Mixer Next Monday; Women’s Basketball qualified for the playoffs; Midterm Season is On, hydrate and take care of yourselves and go to CAPS if needed;
Adjournment- The meeting was adjourned at: 1:59 pm
